Class Descriptions

Ab Lab

(15 Minutes) Core training consisting of a combination of abdominal and back strengthening exercises.

Aerobics

Traditional by design, fun by nature! This class is your typical high/low aerobics energized by motivating moves and fun music. Although designed for the more experienced, this class can be adjusted to accommodate class participants with less experience.

Arthritis Warm Water Aquatics

This class is geared towards Members who have an arthritic condition. It is designed to improve joint flexibility, range of motion, and strength, as well as reduce joint pain and stiffness. Sessions are 12-weeks long and require advance registration. Please call for session dates and availability. Free to Members. Call Hilary Schwartz at 847-419-7128 for more information.

Aqua Strength

With the use of hand buoys, hydro fit bells, noodles, and steps, this 30 minute strength class will give you a nice warm-up for the deep water conditioning class.

Aqua X-Press

This 45 minute class will warm you up with a variety of equipment in the water.

Boot Camp

A 10-15 minute warm-up period followed by 30-40 minutes of calisthenics, body weight exercises, medicine ball training and other forms of exercise applicable to a basic training regimen. The final 10-15 minutes will be a cool down period.

Deep Water Aerobics

This 45 minute class lets you experience the water’s freedom with exercises in deep water. Flotation equipment is used to keep you afloat while your body goes to work. Appropriate for all fitness levels including pre/postnatal. A non-impact workout.

Flex & Stretch

Emphasizes flexibility, balance, and proper body alignment with elements of strength to increase functional mobility and range of motion.

Freestyle Step

Join in a high energy step class that incorporates incredible choreography for an amazing workout!

Get on the Ball

This mid-section strengthening session challenges your core while incorporating the use of a stability ball.

Group Active

Activate Your Life in only one hour! Feeling fitter, stronger and more alive has never been more achievable or more enjoyable! Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group Active will increase your cardio fitness, build your strength and improve your balance and flexibility.

Group Centergy

Redefine yourself with Group Centergy. Grow longer and stronger as you explore this 60 minute journey of yoga and Pilates movements. Positive uplifting music, group dynamics and supportive instructors will enable you to center your energy, reduce stress and even smile. Discover Group Centergy.

Group Groove

If you can move, you can Groove. Experience a fusion of club, urban, and Latin dance styles with motivating chart topping hits and retro classic tunes. Supportive, funky, easy going instructors help you Get A Move On with Group Groove!

Group Kick

This fusion class of martial arts & boxing movements will kick your cardio fitness to the next level while defining and shaping your body & self confidence! Energetic music & a group environment will keep you punching, kicking, and smiling! Group Kick will knock you out!

Group Power

Group Power is your hour of power! This 60 minute barbell Program strengthens all your major muscles in an inspiring, motivating group environment with fantastic music. With simple athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses, and curls, Group Power is for all ages and fitness levels. Discover results, discover Group Power!

Group Ride

Everyone finishes first in Group Ride! This cycle program is for anyone who can ride a bike. Build up cardiovascular fitness and strengthen the lower body. Controlled speeds ensure that anyone can “keep up.”

Group Step

Discover new heights with Group Step! Utilizing the step in many positions and heights, this compelling 60 minute cardio program strengthens and shapes your lower body, one step at a time. Energetic music and motivating instructors create this spunky group experience. Step this way with Group Step.

Heart Smart

A 15-minute class incorporating some gentle tubing and resistance exercises for our early morning participants.

Hi/Low

Traditional by design, fun by nature! Energizing music and move for a great cardiovascular workout.

Hi/Low/Abs

45 minutes of aerobic exercise with 15 minutes of core work to strengthen the abdominals and back.

H20 Athletic Training

This is an advanced water class for the focused individual utilizing a variety of equipment.

Instructor Choice

Don’t miss the fun in this aquatic workout that is exciting and different each week.

Kidz In Motion

Light & Low

Take it at your own pace in this energizing low-impact workout designed to improve the cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance of the mature adult.

Muscle Conditioning

A complete workout for your muscles with the benefits of balance and stability work included. Learn about proper posture and alignment. Finish with a stretch.

Pilates

This core-strengthening workout focuses on control of your trunk and abdominals. Specific movements are taught on the mat to improve your posture and strengthen your “powerhouse.”

Smooth Seas

It’s smooth sailing in this low to moderate intensity class! Feel the cardiovascular training benefits and enjoy the muscle strengthening resistance exercise designed to give you a full body workout. Appropriate for entry level to intermediate.

Total Body Conditioning

A 30 minute class that will strengthen and tone your muscles with a variety of equipment.

TBC Ball

A complete workout for your muscles with the benefits of a stability ball.

30/30 Core and Strength

30 minutes each of core and strength work targeting all major muscles with the use of a variety of equipment. Don’t be surprised to have some cardio work added in to meet all your needs in one hour!

Trim and Tone

Low-impact aerobics, plus a strength component to improve cardio and muscular endurance.

Total Splash

This longer, high energy class is the challenge you are ready for in your workout routine. A great mix of music, choreography, and advanced muscular strength training. An excellent way to cross train!

Walk & Low

Just like our Light & Low, with a walking element which emphasizes technique and posture.

Higher Gear Cycle Classes

Enjoy Higher Gear, our state-of-the-art cycle studio, complete with heart-pumping sound and visually stimulating projection images. Call the Service Desk up to 24 hours in advance to make a reservation — 847-229-0292.

Cycle Zones

Heart rate training is an unbeatable way to strengthen your heart, but there’s more than one way to do it. By training in different heart rate zones like strength, endurance, and interval, you’ll get an all-around workout that will make you a fitter, stronger athlete.

Extreme Cycle

Take it to the extreme by challenging your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. Build a strong aerobic engine one day; blast the boundaries of your anaerobic fitness the next.

High Intensity Cycle

Increase your conditioning and prepare your body for real life cycling situations. Work between 65% and 92% of max heart rate. This ride includes flats, hills, and sprints.

Performance Cycling

Ever wonder how professional cyclists train? Based on the training techniques found in The Lance Armstrong Performance Program, this class will increase your VO2 max and raise your lactate threshold to get you fitter and boost your performance on the bike.

Weekend Power

Blast into your weekend with interval training on the bike. This cardiovascular workout offers intense workloads followed by measured recovery with individually paced options.

Zumba

“Ditch the workout, join the party” for an hour of hypnotic Latin dance rhythms and easy to follow dance moves!

Zumba Gold

The same great Latin styles of music and dance as Zumba Basic done at a lower intensity. Designed
for the active, older adult or true beginner. Also appropriate for people who may be limited physically.

Pre & Postnatal Classes

Instructed by Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Licensed Physical Therapists

Pre and Postnatal Exercise Classes

Offered by ENH Rehab Services. All classes are instructed by licensed Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Physical Therapists who have additional specialized training in women’s health issues. All classes include education on proper exercise and caring for your changing body.

Postnatal Exercise Classes

These classes are appropriate for women 6 weeks to 8 months
postpartum and their babies. They allow you to learn specific strategies to care for your self at this special time while you get to exercise with your baby and meet other moms.

Postnatal Pilates:

Regain your pre-pregnancy shape-Learn the most effective and appropriate abdominal and “core” strengthening for new moms. Proactively address common postpartum issues such as back and/or wrist pain

Baby and Me – Cardio and Core:

Participate in both cardio exercise and “core” conditioning. Learn how to safely include baby in your exercise and daily activities. Care for baby while you care for yourself.

Prenatal Exercise Classes

Postnatal Exercise Classes are appropriate for women in their second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Physician consent required.

Prenatal Pilates:

Focused around building awareness and control of the core muscles essential during the childbearing year. Includes appropriate stretching to affect muscles commonly shortened during pregnancy. A Physical Therapist provides education regarding ways to decrease discomforts of pregnancy.

Prenatal Aquatic Exercise

Water aerobics and strengthening specially designed for pregnant women in their 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Core and stretching exercises help decrease discomfort, improve your overall condition and prepare you for labor and delivery. Learn how to meet the needs of your changing body while exercising in a soothing water environment.
